All of my large pieces start out as beautiful birchwood canvases made by hand by my dad, Sam. Once I have the canvas, I look at an image and sketch the outline of the mountain in pencil. Then, I spend hours and hours drawing meticulous patterns with India ink pens. Next, I prime the "sky" with gesso and paint over that with matte acrylic paints. Sometimes I'll add gold leaf, which requires an adhesive, leaf, and a sealer so it doesn't tarnish. Lastly, I spray the whole piece with a matte varnish.

So much time and care goes into the making of each and every piece. This is a super sped up time lapse of what it looks like to make a 2' x 4' original piece. I hope you enjoy!
